Draft placeholder - not legal advice

This page is a starting point written for development. It must be reviewed and completed by someone qualified (for example a solicitor or data-protection adviser) before LocalLoop launches publicly.

LocalLoop is designed to collect as little personal information as possible. Many of our users are under 18.

What we collect

  • Browsing without an account: nothing that identifies you. If you set preferences, your chosen town, interests and age range are stored in a cookie on your own device.
  • With an account: your email address, a securely stored password (handled by our sign-in provider), your preferences and the listings you save.
  • Organisations submitting a listing: a contact email, seen only by moderators.
  • Reports: the reason and any details you give. If you're signed in, the report is linked to your account so we can stop abuse; it's never shown publicly.
  • Usage counts: anonymous totals such as how many times a listing was viewed, and search words. These contain no account IDs, IP addresses or cookies.

What we never collect

  • Your home address, precise location or GPS position.
  • Your date of birth (we ask for an optional age range instead).
  • Your school, timetable or phone number.

Who can see your information

Only you, and our administrators where needed to run the service. Organisations never see who viewed or saved their listings. There are no public profiles and no messaging between users.

How long we keep it

  • Account data: until you delete your account (you can do this any time from the Account page).
  • Search words in usage counts: 90 days. Other anonymous counts: 13 months.
  • Closed reports: 2 years. Rejected submissions: 12 months.

Your rights

You can see, change or delete your information. To ask for a copy of your data or for anything to be deleted, contact us using the details on the Contact page. [To complete: data controller name, address, lawful bases, ICO registration, processors such as Supabase and Vercel and where data is stored.]
